UGANDA: APPEAL COURT QUASHES DEATH SENTENCE

the Ugandan Court of Appeal overruled the death sentences of Godfrey Oguttu and Robert Ouma Musumba of Masafu village in Busia district. They had been convicted by Justice Faith Mwondha in 2003 of murdering Simon Onyango. Their death sentence was commuted to eight years in prison after the Court of Appeal ruled that the prosecution failed prove that the accused intended to kill Onyango.
