USA - Alabama. A jury has recommended ‘death by lethal injection' for Kevin Andre Towles

An Etowah County jury has recommended ‘death by lethal injection' for Kevin Andre Towles, black. Towles was found guilty of capital murder in the december 2006 death of his girlfriend's son, Geontae Glass, 5. The full sentencing has a tentative date of December 18th. Shalinda Glass, black, the mother of Geontae, will also be placed on trial for her son's death. Her trial is scheduled for March and District Attorney Jimmie Harp said the state plans to seek the death penalty in that case as well. Prosecutors say Geontae's mother, Shalinda Glass, and Towles killed the boy and faked an abduction to cover up the murder. Prosecutors say Towles beat Geontae Glass to death with a piece of wood after an argument over the child's report card. Defense attorneys claimed there was no proof Towles beat the child. They argued Geontae's mother is to blame.
