A Jefferson County jury has recommended 10-2 the death penalty for Anthony Lane, 21, black. Lane was convicted last week of capital murder in the May 22, 2009 shooting death of 57-year-old Frank Wright at a car wash. A surveillance camera at a convenience store near the car wash linked Lane, who was 19 at the time, to the killing. Investigators tracked him down, and he confessed, but denied a robbery motive, which made the killing a capital crime. Circuit Judge Clyde Jones will decide Lane's fate on May 23.
