USA - Alabama. Eddie Duval Powell, 41, black, was executed

Eddie Duval Powell, 41, black, was executed by lethal injection tonight at Holman Prison in Alabama. Powell was convicted of the 1995 murder, rape and sodomy of 70-year-old Mattie Wesson during the burglary of her home. Powell becomes the 4th condemned inmate to be put to death this year in Alabama and the 53rd overall since the state resumed capital punishment in 1983. Powell become the 22nd condemned inmate to be put to death this year in the USA and the 1256th overall since the nation resumed executions on January 17, 1977.
