Lee Andrew Taylor, 32, white, was executed for the April 1999 attack on fellow prisoner Donta Green, black, an inmate at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Telford Unit near Texarkana. At the time of Green's slaying, Taylor already was serving a life sentence for the 1995 beatings of an elderly couple during a robbery. At that time Taylor was 16. He pleaded guilty. Taylor becomes the 5th condemned inmate to be put to death this year in Texas and the 469th overall since the state resumed capital punishment on December 7, 1982. Taylor becomes the 230th condemned inmate to be put to death in Texas since Rick Perry b ecame governor in 2001. Taylor becomes the 21st condemned inmate to be put to death this year in the USA and the 1255th overall since the nation resumed executions on January 17, 1977.
