Thomas Paul West, 52, white,  was executed. He was sentenced to die on Aug. 1, 1988, for the July 12, 1987 1st-degree murder, 2nd-degree burglary and theft that left Donald Lee Bortle, 53, dead. West becomes the 4th condemned inmate to be put to death this year in Arizona and the 28th overall since the state resumed capital punishment in 1992. West becomes the 27th condemned inmate to be put to death this year in the USA and the 126st overall since the nation resumed executions on January 17, 1977.
