A Los Angeles Superior Court jury have recommended the death penalty for Steven Dewayne Cheatham, a gang member convicted of murdering 2 people. Cheatham, 31, was convicted last week of 2 counts of 1st-degree murder. The charges involved the slaying of 14-year-old Elvira Ramirez in 2001 and the murder of Phillip Ovalle in 1998. Cheatham will be sentenced Nov. 13.
