USA - California. Judge Christian Thierbach sentenced Glen Joseph Jones to death

Riverside County Superior Court Judge Christian Thierbach sentenced Glen Joseph Jones to death, following the January 11 (see) recommendation of a jury. Jones, 27, white, together with co-defendant Jeffree Jay Buettner, 34, white, was convicted of 1st-degree murder in the death of  Stephanie Ann Benton, 18, white, in late May 2002. Judge Thierbach sentenced Buettner on April 23 (see). Jones confessed to being involved in the murder and led investigators to the body, but he maintained that Buettner killed Benton and forced him to go along with it. Buettner denied that he even witnessed the killing.
