USA - California. Judge Christian Thierbach sentenced Jeffree Jay Buettner to death.

Riverside County Superior Court Judge Christian Thierbach sentenced Jeffree Jay Buettner, 34, white, to death. A jury recommended death on January 11 (see) after finding him guilty of the May 2002 kidnapping and killing of Stephanie Ann Benton, 18. Buettner did not act alone. A separate jury convicted Glen Joseph Jones, 26, of 1st-degree murder in connection with Benton's disappearance. The twin juries recommended death for both men. Jones also was scheduled to be sentenced today. But Thierbach granted a request to postpone the sentencing until June 11.
