USA - California. Judge Joan Comparet-Cassani upheld Santiago Martinez Jr.’s death sentence

Long Beach Superior Court Judge Joan Comparet-Cassani upheld Santiago Martinez Jr.’s death sentence. Martinez, 28, hispanic, had a death sentence recommendation on Oct. 29 (see) for the March 30, 2003 murder of his girlfriend, Myra Orozco, 24. He was first convicted in 2005 of killing one girlfriend, Christina Wilkerson, 28, on March 18, 2003. Then, according to prosecutors, two weeks later, killed a second girlfriend, Orozco, when she refused to help him dispose of the first victim's remains. Martinez was sentenced to more than 50 years to life in prison for Wilkerson’s death.
