Kern County Superior Court Judge John S. Somers sentenced Kenneth Nowlin, 33, White, to death following the July 2 (see) jury’s recommendation. Nowlin and co-defendant Travis Frazier, 31, White, stabbed fellow inmate Evan Broderick, 20, on May 11, 2009, on the prison's exercise yard.
