USA - Florida. Judge Peter Dubensky sentenced Delmer Smith, 41, White, to death

Judge Peter Dubensky sentenced Delmer Smith, 41, White, to death by lethal injection for beating Kathleen Briles to death Aug. 3, 2009, in her home. Smith insisted he was innocent. Smith was convicted Aug. 2, 2012, for first-degree murder and armed burglary by a jury that later (see Aug. 14, 2012) unanimously recommend the death penalty. Smith is already serving a life sentence for a March 14, 2009, home invasion robbery in Sarasota County.
