USA - Iowa. SF 296 to reinstate the death penalty died in a House Committee

A bill to reinstate the death penalty in Iowa (SF 296) died in a House Committee when it failed to meet the legislature's April 5 "second funnel" deadline. Under Iowa legislative rules, bills that do not receive approval from committees in both houses of the legislature by the second funnel deadline will not be considered during the remainder of the legislative session.
