USA - Louisiana. Judge Lewis Sams sentenced Terrance Carter to death
1 MIN READ
District Judge Lewis Sams formally sentenced Terrance Carter, 30, black, to death. A Lincoln Parish had decided the death penalty more than a year ago (see SEPTEMBER 26, 2008), but a request for a new trial has been pending for months. Carter was convicted of burning his ex-girlfriend’s 5-year-old son, Corinthian Houston, because he wanted to get back at the child’s mother, who had broken off their relationship. The little boy was abducted from his grandmother’s house on July 1, 2006, taken to a vacant house, tied to a chair, doused with gasoline and set on fire.
