Sanchez Brumfield, 26, black, signed a plea agreement and "contract for life" — meaning neither he nor anyone on his behalf can appeal his guilty plea to first-degree murder or his life sentence. Brumfield and Tracy Young fatally shot Aaron Arnold (age 21) and wounded Dionne Grayson (age 28) during an attempted robbery. The victims were shot on the night of September 8, 2006, in the parking lot behind a restaurant while Arnold was helping Grayson put gas in her car. Brumfield was sentenced to death on Dec. 2, 2008 (see). His co-defendant Young, 33, black, was tried after him, and on March 25, 2011 pleaded guilty during jury selection in Young’s capital murder trial in exchange for a life sentence. In return, Brumfield has been given the chance to plea guilty himself, which today he did.
