USA - Nevada. The Nevada Supreme Court overturned the death sentence of Curtis Guy

Court overturns man's death sentence, orders new hearing. The Nevada Supreme Court has admitted it made a mistake in a previous decision and ruled that Curtis Guy is not eligible for the death penalty. It ordered the District Court to conduct a new penalty hearing. Guy was driving a vehicle in North Las Vegas when a passenger shot a man. The court ruled that Guy was not a "major participant" in the crime as required to receive a death sentence. Guy, 50, Black, was convicted in 1992 of killing Caesor Evans on April 7, 1990. Evans joined Guy and Larry Pendleton to buy drugs. After the deal, Evans got out of the car to urinate. Guy started to drive off, and Evans grabbed the side of the car holding on. Pendleton shot Evans three times. Guy drove off. Pendleton pleaded guilty and got life without the possibility of parole plus 110 years. On Feb. 25, 2011 the Nevada Supreme Court denied the appeal of Guy.
