A 3-judge panel sentenced Edward Wayne Edwards, 77, white, to death. Edwards pleaded guilty today in Geauga County to killing his foster son, 25-year-old Dannie Boy Edwards, in May 1996 for  $250,000 in life insurance. It was up to the 3-judge panel whether to accept the plea and sentence Edwards. The three judges were: Presiding Geauga County Common Pleas Court Judge Forrest Burt, Geauga County Common Pleas Court Judge David Fuhry and Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Walter Wyatt McKay II. Edwards also pleaded guilty in June 2010 to stabbing and strangling a young couple in Wisconsin in 1980 (Tim Hack and Kelly Drew, both 19), and executing another young couple in Ohio in 1977 (Judith Straub, 18, and Bill Lavaco, 21). He is serving a life prison sentence at Pickaway Correctional Institution in Orient for those murders.
