USA - South Carolina. Circuit Judge Ned Miller sentenced Jerry Buck Inman to death

Circuit Judge Ned Miller sentenced Jerry Buck Inman to death for the May 23, 2006 rape and murder of 20-year-old Tiffany Souers. Inman, 35, white, served almost 18 years in North Carolina and Florida prisons for rapes that he committed when he was a teenager. He had been out of prison only about nine month when he was arrested in the Souers' case. After his arrest he confessed to the robbery and attempted rape of a 24-year-old woman in Alabama, and to the rape of a 28-year-old woman in Tennessee, during those nine months he was free. Under South Carolina law, Sentences for guilty pleas in are normally handed down by judges, and defendants can still receive the death penalty even though he entered a guilty plea.
