A federal jury unanimously sentenced Rejon Taylor, 24, to die. U.S. District Judge Curtis L. Collier said he would set a hearing later to formally impose the sentence. Taylor, who is black, was convicted of abducting Guy Luck, 55, white, from Atlanta in Aug. 2003 and shooting him near Chattanooga. 2 co-defendants, Joey Marshall and Sir Jack Matthews, pleaded guilty in 2006 and testified against Taylor and most likely will receive life terms in prison when they are sentenced in the coming months. Federal prosecutors handled it because Luck was abducted and taken across state lines. The jury is the 1st in the state of Tennessee to return a federal death sentence. Taylor joins just 50 other federal prisoners in the nation now on death row in Terre Haute, Indiana.
