According to the court, Phan Trieu Phu and Dang Cam Vy were arrested red-handed at Thuan Kieu Plaza Trading Center in August 2004 transporting six cakes (nearly two kg) of heroin, which a man, Co, hired them to transport to China for $4,000. Phu and Vy also revealed that it was the second time they committed the crime under order from the unidentified man. At the first instance trial, Phu received the highest sentence while Vy was given the lesser punishment. However, according to the court, both deserved to face the firing-squad for the same role.
