Wang Daohua, Yin Yaxiong, Zhu Zhongfa and Zheng Qiukang, four convicted drug traffickers, were executed and Wang Yan, another member of the gang, was given a suspended death sentence on March 17 in Jinhua City of east China's Zhejiang Province.
With the approval of the Supreme People's Court, the four main suspects in a drug trafficking gang were put to death by Jinhua City Intermediate People's Court, which convicted them of organizing, transporting and selling at total of 76,353 grams of heroin from 2001 to 2002.
Yan, another gang member, was also given a death sentence with a two-year reprieve for his minor role within the gang, according to the court's judgment.
The gang was accused of buying drugs from southwest China's Yunnan Province beginning July 2001 and transporting the heroin to Shanghai, China's biggest city.
The sentenced criminals were caught in February 2002 separately in cities of Kunming and Guiyang by local police.
