Wang Guoqing, 22, convicted of killing an officer Yuan Shiguang, was executed after being sentenced to death by the Beijing No 1 Intermediate People's Court on September 4. The officer had tried to arrest Wang and two of his friends for robbing a tourist on July 23. After Wang was sentenced to death, he lodged a plea with the Beijing Higher People's Court, but it was rejected.
