Xu Baosheng, former general manager of a state-owned securities company in Baoji City, northwest China's Shaanxi province, was executed in Baoji on after being convicted of taking bribes and embezzling public funds. Xia Jialing, the firm's former deputy general manager, was sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve. The investigation showed Xu and Xia jointly took bribes of 3.7 million yuan (HK$3.4 million) in cash and embezzled public funds totalling 4.7 million yuan, Xinhua said. No other details were given.
