Yugoslavia has abolished the death penalty, the Belgrade-based Radio B92 text web site reported.The Speaker of Yugoslavia's lower house, the Chamber of Citizens, Dragoljub Micunovic, informed the Council of Europe that Yugoslavia has ratified a convention abolishing the death penalty (Protocol N. 6 to the European Convention on human rights, NdR)."With this, Yugoslavia has fulfilled yet another condition for full membership with the Council of Europe," Micunovic told the house."If a political community wishes to make progress, then it must stop all violence and firmly establish the principle that nothing is more valuable to one human being than another," Micunovic insisted.
