A 28-year-old electrical and telecommunications subcontractor was sentenced to death by the High Court for trafficking in 315.14 grams of cannabis.
Judge Datuk Nik Hashim Nik Abdul Rahman said the prosecution had proved beyond reasonable doubt that the accused, Kamal Abdul Ghani, of Kampung Buluh Gading, committed the crime on September 27, 1999.
"An offence will remain an offence even it was done by an addict. This case goes to show that no matter how clever one is, the law will always catch up with him," Nik Hashim said.
Counsel Wan Roslan Othman said he would be filing an appeal.
