A bill seeking to punish "drug lords" and drug financiers with beheading was filed at the House of Representatives. House Bill 6185, filed by Iloilo Rep. Augusto L. Syjuco, wanted to amend Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, by imposing a stiffer penalty against drug-related criminals. "The drug problem in the country has assumed a very alarming proportion. It is a menace that kills in a recidivist manner and destroys millions of life, mostly the youth's. I oppose the death penalty law, but I believe that drastic measures against the drug problem is now compelling and needed," Mr. Syjuco told reporters.
