A Chinese couple were sentenced to death for the murder of 12 women who had been lured with offers of jobs, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported. Ma Yong, a 43-year-old man, and Duan Zhiqun, a 20-year-old woman, both pleaded guilty as they appeared before the Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court, just across the border from Hong Kong, the news agency said. Ma and Duan were arrested in October and allegedly confessed that they had pretended to be working for a company and interviewed job-seekers in the town of Buji near Shenzhen. Those women who had mobile phones and looked physically weak were lured to the suspects' home and killed, reports said. Ma and Duan then allegedly took their belongings.
