Ren Qinghe, 39, a laid-off textile worker, ignited explosives he planted in a hotel room in the northern province of Shaanxi in a bid to kill his lover's husband in January, Xinhua said.
About 70 people were dining when the blast ripped through the third-floor ceiling of the hotel around 250 miles north of the city of Xi'an, local officials have said.
