A court in Dhaka, Bangladesh, sentenced Tofael Ahmed Joshep, 35, and Tariq Sayeef alias Mamun, 30, to death and four others to life imprisonment for shooting an activist of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. According to the prosecution, on September 25, 1995, Abu Morshed, 25, went to Dhaka district court together with a friend to appear as a witness in a criminal case. While he was standing in front of the court, the accused charged at him and fired at close range. Morshed died later in hospital naming his killers before death.
