A court in Vietnam's northern province of Hai Duong sentenced to death Tran Huy Son after finding him guilty of running a syndicate that smuggled 390 million dong (25,000 dollars) in counterfeit Vietnamese banknotes from China in 2002. Ten other members of the gang, which was busted in December 2002, received prison terms ranging from three to 16 years at the three-day trial which ended on May 14.
