A jury in U.S. District Court in Charlotte, N.C., sentenced Aquilia Barnette to die for killing Donald Lee Allen in N.C. 6 years ago and driving the man's car to Virginia, where he used the same shotgun to kill his ex-girlfriend Robin Williams, 22, on June 22, 1996.
The verdict was the same as one reached by a different jury in 1998.
That death sentence was reversed 2 years ago by the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which ruled that defence lawyers should have been given the chance to rebut psychiatric testimony that portrayed Barnette as a psychopath.
