A man was sentenced to death for violently stealing a mobile telephone and Sh300.
John Mwangi Kamwaro was sent to the gallows by Nyeri Senior Resident Magistrate Margaret Gitonga after she found him guilty of violently robbing Beth Wanjiku on January 7.
Kamwaro robbed Wanjiku at Grogan Road in Nyeri town while armed with a knife with others who were not in court. She said the thieves accosted her soon after closing the shop where she was an attendant. The magistrate observed that the plaintiff knew the accused as he was a frequent customer. She said that the prosecution had proved its case beyond any doubt.
