A man, Zahid [no first name given] of Nazirhat village...

A man, Zahid [no first name given] of Nazirhat village in Sonandanga upazila, was condemned to death for strangling his wife Rahima and daughter Reshma to death, on September 5, 1997. He was arrested after Rahima's father Moinufddin Sheikh filed a case against him with their local police in Bagerhat. However Zahid went into hiding on being released on bail. He was tried in absentia and condemned by the District and Sessions Judge Anisuzzaman upon examination of records and witnesses.
