A Speedy Trial Court in Dhaka, Bangladesh, sentenced to death Saidul, 20, Adel, 22, and Badiul after convicting them of murder. Badiul was tried in absentia. According to the prosecution, as a result of past hostility, the accused poured petrol on Iman, 20, and Iran, 18, employees of a footwear factory, and set them on fire while they were asleep in the factory at Lalbagh on April 8, 2002. They were later rescued by local people and admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where they died on April 10. In his deposition to the magistrate before his death, Iran disclosed the names of the accused.
