Abdus Sattar was sentenced to death and six others to life imprisonment for murdering Masud Ahmed, son of former MP Samsuddin Ahmed Eshaq. The killing took place following the rivalry of two local BNP leaders - Samsuddin Ahmed Eshaq and Abdul Ali Mridha. According to prosecution, Abdus Sattar and his accomplices stabbed and shot dead Masud at Brahmandi in the town while he was returning home from Shibpur on April 29, 1995.
