Ahsan Habib Titu was sentenced to death in absentia by a Speedy Trail Tribunal and seven others were sentenced to life imprisonment for killing a Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader at Dewanganj in Jamalpur district in 1999. According to the prosecution, local BNP leader Abdur Razzak, 45, was killed by the accused out of political enmity when leading a party procession near Dewanganj market. The date of the crimes was not reported.
