An inquiry into the murder of an Irish priest, the Rev. Fr. Declan O'toole, established that the trial and execution of two soldiers over his killing was lawful. O'toole, who was the parish priest of Kotido Catholic Church and two of his workers, Patrick Lochole and Fideli Longole, were gunned down in March 2002, on the Moroto-Kotido road. Two days later, two soldiers, Corporal James Amedio and Private Abdalla Mohammed, attached to the 67th Battalion in Kotido, were arrested, tried and executed by firing squad in Kotido town after reportedly being found guilty of the murder. A report by the board of inquiry into the murder chaired by Colonel Hudson Mukasa said the Field Court Martial, which tried the culprits, was legally appointed as set by the National Resistance Army statute, 1992.
