An Islamic court in the United Arab Emirates has condemned an Emirati man to death for raping four children. Identified as S.M., the 38-year-old man was found guilty of kidnapping four Emirati children and raping them in a remote area, Gulf News reported.
The court in Ras al-Khaimah said the rapist, who was also found guilty of possessing a gun without a license, videotaped his crimes, the paper added. Defense lawyers argued the man was mentally disturbed at the time of the rapes.
Execution will be by firing squad if the verdict is upheld by the appeal court, unless the UAE presidency intervenes and pardons the man.
