Arshad Hawlader, 30, was sentenced to death by an additional district and sessions court in Barisal, Bangladesh, after being found guilty of killing his wife.
The judge acquitted Nazma Akhter, accused of having illicit relations with Arshad and persuading him to kill wife as her guilty was not proved beyond doubt.
Arshad of Govindapur village married Pushi Begum in 1986.
According to the prosecution, Arshad strangulated Pushi to death on May 25, 2001 after she refused to let him see Nazma.
The judge acquitted Nazma Akhter, accused of having illicit relations with Arshad and persuading him to kill wife as her guilty was not proved beyond doubt.
