the High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh confirmed the death sentence of four convicts in the Gopal Krishna Muhuri murder case. Another two accused had their life sentences upheld for their involvement in the case. Those sentenced to death were: Nasir alias Gittu Nasir, Azam, Alamgir Kabir alias Baitta Alamgir and Tasleem Uddin Mintu.
Gopal Krishana Muhuri, principal of Nazirhat College in Chittagong, was murdered at his house at Jamal Khan Road in the port city on November 16, 2001.
The Speedy Trial Tribunal of Chittagong had awarded capital punishment to the four on February 3, 2003.
Since then Gittu Nasir was killed in crossfire with Rapid Action Battalion forces on March 2, 2005.
