The judge handed down the death penalty to Haripada, Sirajul and Abdur Rab while the fourth convict, Milon, remained fugitive since the incident. They were all aged between 20 and 30 years. Another accused was acquitted. According to the prosecution, the convicts lobbed powerful bombs on the police team guarding the gate of an international trade fair at Circuit House Maidan on March 1, 2003 killing police officer Arif on the spot and injuring others.
