at a District and Sessions court in Bangladesh, Judge M Abdul Majid sentenced four members of a family to death for murder. The convicted were identified as Shahansha Shikder, 45, his mother Aleya Begum, 65, and sisters Tanjia, 30, and Ruma Khatun, 20, of Tularampur union in Sadar upazila. According to the prosecution, Shahansha beat his wife Muslima, 35, and her five year old daughter Keya for her dowry and then strangled them on July 14, 2000, with the help of his family members. Later they dumped their bodies into a pond adjacent to their house.
