BANGLADESH. MAN SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR KILLING WIFE

the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal in Rajbari, Bangladesh, sentenced to death Shafiqul Islam, 26, after finding him guilty of killing his wife. According to the prosecution, Shafiq beat his wife Asma Khatun to death for dowry on July 17, 2004. He tried to cover up his tracks by hanging the body from the ceiling in their home at Machpara Kanukhali village, Pangsha, giving the impression she had committed suicide.
