a court in Jessore, Bangladesh, sentenced Moslemuddin Molla, 45, to death in absentia for people trafficking. Moslemuddin was stopped by authorities on January 13, 2000 as he was making his way to India with Khadija, 15, and Manjoo Ara, 11. The minor girls told police that Moslemuddin had enticed them with the promise of lucrative jobs abroad. Moslemuddin managed to secure bail from a lower court and remained fugitive.
