Shaikh Abdur Rahman, leader of the outlawed Jamayetul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), and his second-in-command, Siddiqul Islam, were being tried for the murder of two judges in November 2005.
"They killed the judges in the name of Islam but Islam does not support killing. According to the country's law, they deserve the death sentence and we demand it," public prosecutor Haider Hossain told AFP.
