a court in southwestern Jhenidah district town in Bangladesh sentenced seven people, all in their 30s, to death for killing a college student. According to the prosecution, the convicts picked up Sandwip, a student of Kaliganj Mahtabuddin Degree College, from his house in Kaliganj sub-district on September 14, 2004, and took him to a field where they severely beat him. Neighbours rescued Swandip and admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital in critical condition. He succumbed to his injuries the next day. After examining the records and witnesses, Additional District and Sessions Judge Rokeya Begum found them guilty and handed down the judgment.
