BANGLADESH: THREE TO GO TO GALLOWS FOR KILLING GIRL AFTER RAPE IN SYLHET

Judge M Mahbub-Ul-Islam of the Speedy Trial Tribunal in Sylhet, Bangladesh, sentenced three people to death and fined them Tk 20,000 each. According to the prosecution, Ruhul Amin, 23, Sayad Ahmed, 25, and Atiq, 24, of Khalpara village in Golapganj upazila, abducted Rima Begum, 13, on November 27, 2006. They raped and killed her and dumped the body in Naluar Haor. Atiq was tried in absentia.
