BANGLADESH: TWO SENTENCED TO DEATH IN MURDER CASE IN JHENIDAH

a court in Jhenidah, Bangladesh, sentenced two people to death in absentia for killing a co-villager in 2000. The condemned convicts are Shahid and Imdadul Mollah of Shekhra village in Shoilakupa upazila. According to the prosecution, Shahid and Imdad called co-villager Baharul Islam, alias Baka Chunnu, out of his house and shot him to death following a previous enmity on October 6, 2000. After examining the records and 10 witnesses, Additional District and Sessions Judge Rokeya Begum pronounced the verdict.
