Judge M Shafiqul Kari of the Speedy Trial Tribunal in Chittagong, Bangladesh, sentenced a man to death for killing an eight-year-old boy in Comilla in 2007.

Judge M Shafiqul Kari of the Speedy Trial Tribunal in Chittagong, Bangladesh, sentenced a man to death for killing an eight-year-old boy in Comilla in 2007. The condemned convict was identified as Mahbubur Rahman alias Babu of Ilaspur village in Sadar upazila of Comilla district. The court also jailed Bipon Chandra Das for seven years while Alamgir alias Kashai Alamgir for six years. They were also fined Tk 20,000 each, in default, to suffer one year RI more. According to the prosecution, the convicts abducted Minhajul Abedin Tanim and demanded extortion from his businessman father Julhadul Abedin over telephone on September 16, 2007. Being refused, they killed the boy and concealed his body.
