In Bagerhat, Additional District and Session Judge Mohammad Rezaul Karim sentenced Aiyub Ali to death for killing a fish enclosure businessman Sarfaraz Shikder. According to the prosecution, the accused killed his co-villager Shikder with a sharp weapon at the latter’s house on the night of April 26, 2004, following an altercation over lifting fish from Shikder’s enclosure at Gaula village in Mollarhat upazila. The accused made a confessional statement before a local court admitting his involvement in the killing. In the second case, Additional District and Session Judge SM Rezaul Karim handed down capital punishment to A Awal Khan for killing his wife four years ago. According to the prosecution story, Awal, resident of Shaildiya village in Kaliganj upazila, killed his wife Nargis with sharp weapon following a family feud on the night of July 16, 2004.
